If you haven’t heard, it’s been snowing here in the Twin Cities.  Over the course of the weekend we were deluged with just over seventeen inches of snow!  It’s been pretty chilly here too.  The 30 mph winds made it feel like it was -23F, but the actual temp was a bit warmer.  This morning it was only -6F when I woke up.  But the sun’s out and it looks beautiful outside.  Even with the nip in the air, Gwyn played outside (for about 5 minutes) this morning.

She loved all the snow.

Check out the snow on the roof.  My wonderful husband raked some off and he cleared all of the snow off the driveway and sidewalk while the kids and I played inside.  I love him so much!

Well, with all of my time inside this weekend, I managed to make a dress for my brother-in-law’s wife.  She is an avid ballroom dancer and for her Holiday show this year, she’s doing a Disney themed number and wanted a Minnie Mouse dress.  She asked me to help.

I started with the Simplicity 2325 pattern, Dress B.  It’s actually an Alice in Wonderland dress, but it had a good shape to start.  I made a few changes to it.  First I shortened the sleeves and removed the ruffle from the sleeve.  I also removed the ruffle at the bottom.  The sewn-on apron was left off, the collar opening was enlarged to sit lower and finally I rounded the collar a bit.

It turned out well.  The bottom skirt was a lot of fabric.  I do mean a lot.  It took a while to gather it all and pin it to the bodice.

I did make the matching bow which will be attached to mouse ears on a headband.

Can’t wait to see my sister-in-law dancing in it.
