I made fire!

Christmas is almost here.  Eeek!  I’m not ready.  Are you?  One more cute gift done for my little 4 yr old nephew: a play campfire.

The pattern for the fire and logs came from the book “Big Little Felt Universe” by Jeanette Lim.  The entire book is adorable.

My version of the campfire is slightly different.  Firstly, I used fleece scraps instead of felt.  They are softer than if made with felt and won’t wear as much as the inexpensive felt does.  The logs were simplified a bit.  In the book they had embroidered details of wood, but because I used fleece (and made “hairy” logs) the extra stitching was left off because it would not stand out.  I also stuffed the fire a bit, making it a bit bigger.  In the book, the three sides of the fire are glued flat to each other.

I liked the stuffed look to the fire.
