It’s starting to get chilly here in MN and the hand knits come out! I was pretty excited to make this cowl. I have never knit bubbles before. They looked extremely difficult to me, but it turns out they were very, very easy.

I absolutely LOVE the texture the bubbles make. I really want to knit something else with them now.

And with stripes inside!! “Dots” and stripes = perfect (for me).

This cowl was an exclusive pattern/kit combo from a local yarn shop called Darn. Knit. {anyway}. That shop is too fun and I love the cute kits and patterns they put together. They have a great online shop too! The pattern is called Bubble & Squeak Cowl by Carroll Davis-Johnson.

I typically wear the cowl with the bubbles on the outside – but the cowl is relaxed enough so that the stripes peak out when worn. The kit came with Quince & Co’s Finch yarn. It’s a fingerling weight wool yarn. What I love most about this yarn, other than the soft hand, is that the yarn is grown, spun and dyed in the US! It’s great to use “local” yarns.

On to more knitting….

What’s on your knitting needles right now?

  1. I’m actually making a cowl also, kit from Stitch&Story, which I bought at Home Goods. I’m loving making it, almost done. Will definitely look into Bubble & Squeak, looks nice, thanks for the info.
