I’m a finalist in The Great Ugly Knit Upcycle!

#11 Recycled Haute Couture
Check out all the great entries and vote for your favorite! I had so much fun searching for old ugly knits at thrift stores, garage sales and rummage sales. Here’s a closer look at what I did:
First I started with these:

I modified some LBB patterns for the dress I made:

The front piece was the front of the Halter/Tie-back dress.

The arms were skinny versions of the Sienna dress arms.

I sewed the collar facing down with the stitching showing.

The lower back was from the twirl skirt (changed a bit so it’s lower in the back center).

The top back was just a smaller piece of the Halter/Tie-Back dress front. I left a small opening at the back, just for fun, but finished the edges with other pieces of fabric.

So here’s the final result. . . . . . .

I also found these ugly knits and saw some potential:

I turned them into simple twirl skirts. They look so much better!

I’m always on the look-out for knits to transform. Now even ugly one’s aren’t safe!
