For Christmas, I finally made both my kiddos large (twin sized) bed quilts. I’ve been really excited about this quilt. I think it’s by far my most favorite quilt I’ve ever made. On the front side it’s the Houndstooth quilt by V and Co. made from KONA coal and grass green. I love the striking combo.

And on the back . . . .

Another quilt. This is Simply Woven, a free tutorial from the Moda Bake Shop. I love the finished look. For this side I used KONA cyan, lagoon, medium gray, robin egg, canary and chartreuse.
Because of the large amount of piecing (on both sides), the quilt is quite heavy. I chose to quilt simple diagonal lines approx 4″ apart following the Houndstooth design on the front. Since it’s a bed quilt, I wanted the quilting nice and loose so it didn’t make the quilt too stiff.

I’m sure you might be wondering: why make a double sided quilt? Well, I love my son, but when he makes his bed, he doesn’t bother to put the top side of the quilt up, so, now I won’t care which side is up, because both sides are beautiful. Connor LOVED his quilt – it was a total surprise because he hadn’t seen me working on it at all.
