Last week I dyed some more fat quarters with a friend. I think I’m in love. It’s so much fun to pick colors. Here’s twenty fat quarters dyed in five different shades of colors (turquoise, scarlet, lemon, and a mixed orange and green). Eighteen of these will be used in a Swoon quilt in the future, but for now they’ll add to my fat quarter shelf and just make it even prettier.

One of the best things about dying your own fabric is that it’s much cheaper. I stared with Kona PFD (Prepared for Dyeing) cotton fabric and with two coupons, it came out to be $3/yard. So for $15, I have my main colors for my Swoon quilt, plus an extra half yard.
If you want to read a bit more about my last fabric dyeing adventure, go here.
Here’s the main colors (and 1/4 concentrations too for a lighter complimentary color):

For the darker shades, we added a bit of black to each. Also striking on their own.

And of course, keep the dye recipe in case I need to make more!
